In astrology, an Astrological Lot is a calculated point derived from a mathematical relationship among chart factors such as the Sun, Moon, Ascendant, planets, or other positions. Lots were used extensively in ancient and traditional astrology and are sometimes referred to as Arabic Parts, although the technique predates its later association with Arabic astrology. Each lot is calculated according to a particular formula and is interpreted symbolically in relation to a specific area or theme of life. The Part of Fortune is one of the best-known examples. Astrological lots are calculated reference points rather than physical celestial bodies.
