The Descendant is one of the four principal angles of an astrological chart and is located directly opposite the Ascendant. It marks the western horizon at the specific time and location for which the chart is calculated and, in many House systems, forms the cusp of the Seventh House. Astrologers commonly associate the Descendant with partnership, close relationships, cooperation, projection, and the qualities a person may seek, encounter, or recognize through others.
