Actuality

A metaphysical concept referring to what is presently real, existent, or realized, especially in contrast with what is merely possible or potential.

Actuality is a central concept in metaphysics concerned with what is fully realized or presently exists rather than what could exist under different conditions. Philosophical discussions often contrast actuality with possibility, potentiality, necessity, and contingency, asking how unrealized possibilities become actual and what distinguishes something that merely could be from something that is. The concept is closely connected with existence, change, causation, identity, and the structure of reality.
