In astrology, a Dwad is one of twelve equal subdivisions within a thirty-degree zodiac sign, with each dwad spanning 2.5 degrees. The sequence of dwads begins with the sign itself and continues through the zodiac in order, assigning a secondary zodiacal association to each portion of the sign. Astrologers may use dwads to add another layer of symbolic detail to planets, angles, or other chart factors located within a particular sign. Like decans, dwads are a supplementary interpretive system and do not replace the primary meaning of the zodiac sign itself.
