Equal House System

A house system that divides the astrological chart into twelve equal 30-degree houses, beginning from the degree of the Ascendant.

The Equal House System divides the zodiac into twelve houses of exactly 30 degrees each. The Ascendant degree establishes the beginning of the First House, and each succeeding house begins 30 degrees later. Unlike the Whole Sign House System, the house cusps do not have to coincide with the beginnings of zodiac signs. Because all twelve houses are equal in size, the system provides a regular mathematical structure while retaining the Ascendant as the starting point for the house sequence.
