In astrology, a Fixed Star is a distant star whose position may be considered as an additional symbolic reference within a natal chart. Although fixed stars do slowly change position over very long periods, they appear relatively stationary compared with the planets and were therefore traditionally described as “fixed.” Astrologers may examine selected fixed stars when they closely align with planets, chart angles, or other important chart factors, often through conjunction. Their meanings are generally drawn from historical, mythological, and symbolic associations and are used as supplementary interpretive material rather than as primary chart factors.
