A Major Aspect is one of the principal angular relationships used in astrological interpretation. The five relationships most commonly classified as Major Aspects are the conjunction at approximately 0°, sextile at 60°, square at 90°, trine at 120°, and opposition at 180°. Astrologers generally give these Aspects greater interpretive emphasis because they describe some of the strongest and most widely recognized relationships among Planets, chart angles, and other factors within a natal chart. Their meanings vary according to the chart factors involved, the type of Aspect, its exactness, and the allowable orb around the precise angle. Although terminology and classification can vary somewhat among astrological systems, these five are the most commonly recognized Major Aspects.
