Solar Arc Direction

An astrological timing technique that advances the planets and other chart points by the same symbolic arc derived from the Sun’s progressed movement.

In astrology, Solar Arc Direction is a timing technique in which the planets, angles, and other selected chart factors are advanced by an equal amount based on the symbolic movement of the progressed Sun. The resulting directed positions are compared with the natal chart, particularly through close aspects to natal planets and angles, to explore periods of development, transition, or heightened emphasis. Because all directed factors move by the same arc, the method differs from secondary progressions, in which individual planets advance according to their actual motions after birth. Solar Arc Directions are interpretive timing tools and do not establish that a particular event or outcome will occur.
